Patients can have virtual doctors visits, thanks to TELUS Health

26,000 Canadian family doctors will be able to book appointments online

During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, TELUS Health has developed this virtual video functionality ahead of schedule. Physicians will be able to seamlessly book appointments, conduct video consultations and update patient records within their electronic medical records (EMR).

“With this new technology, I have a secure way to see my patients virtually and make

sure they’re getting the best care possible, all while keeping both of us safe in our own homes,” said Dr. Baldev Sanghera, B.C. family physician.

Patients can have their virtual appointments by using either their desktop computer or cellphone. Patients can also chat with written messages with their doctors.

“We’ve made it a priority to make EMR-integrated virtual care available much sooner, allowing our physicians to securely connect with their patients and conduct virtual consultations via video on the same platform they already use to update digital records and information,” said Dr. Diane McIntosh, Chief Neuroscience Officer, TELUS Health.
