PROFILE: Yi Yi Wang (Winner – Miss Chinese Vancouver 2022)

Winner of Miss Chinese Pageant looks to grow her profile further

Age: 20

Studying: 3rd year International Relation/ Political Science student at UBC

Favourite Restaurant/Dish: Grandma’s cooking, mainly Shanghainese dishes.

Currently Working at: Dance teacher at Wonder Dance Studio

Which do you prefer? Gym, Spa or Sport?: I like all kind of dancing – jazz, contemporary, k-pop, etc.

Hobbies: besides dancing, I like gardening and walking my dog

• Winner of Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant 2022

What is your Career Goal?

To become a dance instructor and/or film and entertainment artist after I finished my school.

What have you gained through the MCVP contest?

I have known myself better and have a better sense of my identity which reflect my background, culture, etc. I want to promote multiculturalism and also make contribution towards reducing hatred against Chinese.

What advice will you give to those girls who are still deciding whether to join the MCVP?

Strongly recommend young girls to join the pageant as it is good opportunity to know yourself better, learn a lot of stuff and gain valuable experience. Also, by challenging yourself, it helps you to grow into a better person.

How are you going to prepare yourself for the upcoming Miss Chinese International Pageant 2024?

Taking Cantonese course; managing my diet; practicing my jazz dance for the talent part of the pageant; find out more about indigenous culture.
