Paul’s Sub Shop: That time I spent $19 on a sub

Local establishment serves up an array of breakfast choices to patrons

In five years of food blogging, I started to go to more mom and pop restaurants to find a hidden gem. I grabbed some breakfast with M to Paul’s Sub Shop in South Burnaby right behind Metropolis at Metrotown.
They mainly sell sub sandwiches and breakfast. They mostly draw in a lunch crowd. They are also cash only.
The menu has a lot of choices including the Ukrainian Sausage Breakfast which includes hashbrowns, 2 eggs and toast. Everything just seemed like it was cooked on the grill.
When M and I ordered the biggest and fattest steak they had, we got the 12 inch super sub that is supposedly piled on with steak, salami, cheese, capicolla, and mushrooms with grilled onions, lettuce and tomatoes. This sub costs $19! This better be one epic sub.
At first glance, we were not impressed. The sandwich tasted good, but not worth $19. I would be happier paying like $10ish
Yes, they are a mom and pop restaurant, but the price and quality don’t match up.
