Sidewalk Runway: Luxury & Supercar Weekend

Annual car show not only showcases cars but fashion as well 

I would like to shake the man’s hand or hug the woman that decided to combine a car show and fashion show into a single event. The Luxury & Supercar Weekend took place at Van Dusen Botanical Garden on 9.6 & 9.7. The gently sloping grassy lawn was covered with cars, vendor tents and a runway stage. This year’s fashion show was organized by Oakridge Centre Mall. I didn’t realize some of the same outfits from Saturday would be shown again on Sunday. Also, I enjoyed last year’s opulent collection by local haute couture Designer Gianni Maanaki. However I liked that fall outfits, as opposed to Spring/Summer outfits were shown. I also liked how each show lasted 30-minutes (as opposed the typical 8-minute show). I particularly liked Blubird’s down filled miniskirt by Moncler. Blubird also featured an amazing black lace coat made of leather. My favorite runway pieces are shown above. After each show I roamed the grounds and captured shots of well-dressed guests.
