One-woman show details family life during first Gulf War

An Arrangement of Shoes makes its premiere at Vancouver Fringe Festival

 

Writer Abhishek Majumdar presents her one-woman show set in an Indian Railway Colony during the first Gulf War.

Originally, An Arrangement of Shoes was featured as part of London’s Tara Theatre #70/70 season. This season showcased 70 works to commemorate 70 years of independence of Pakistan and India. It also toured the 70th Edinburg Fringe Festival.

On the eve of her grandfather’s burial, Muslim storyteller Rukhsar searches tries to reconnect with her past, her grandfather and his shoes. This story is about family history and global history and the wide-reaching consequences of war.
