Jeegareh Ma is a narrative based on a true story of an Afghan family

Jeegareh Ma, means “my love” in Farsi.
Written by Rahela Nayebzadah, Jeegareh Ma is based on a true story of an Afghan family displaced by the Soviet Union’s invasion and the subsequent turmoil of leaving the war-torn country.
The narrative moves from Afghanistan to Iran and eventually to Canada.
Nayebzadah’s first book, Jeegareh Ma explores themes commonly found in a Rohinton Mistry novel: the strength of the human spirit to overcome hardship, and the long-term effects of that struggle.
Rahela Nayebzadah is an Afghan Canadian who lives in British Columbia. She is currently attending the University of British Columbia as a PhD student in the faculty of arts.
Nayebzadah is currently working on her second novel, Monster Child.
